The year 2016-17 shows a substantial increase in the number of people supported and a success rate that motivates us to continue improving our practices! We served 653 people in Quebec in 2003-04 with a success rate of 55% and no less than 1,312 people in 2016-17 with an exceptional success rate of 67%!
In addition to the growing number of people we want to support on their journey, access to our services remains important, it should complement what already exists, and should be as geographically broad as possible. In 2011-12, we served 7 people in one province outside Quebec (Manitoba); whereas, we are proud to say, the organization supported 226 people in 5 provinces outside Quebec in 2016-2017 (British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario and New Brunswick). We’ve come a long way since 2011 due to our experienced team and enthusiastic partners.
Also worth noting is the budget of $3.8 million in 2003-04, for an average of $5,819 per participant. SPHERE has been able to increase the budget over time, thanks to programs from the Government of Canada, reaching $7.5 million in 2016-17, for an average of $5,668 per participant. Since SPHERE’s incorporation in 2004, public funds management has been a source of pride (stable average grant of $5,733 per participant since 2004 despite the annual inflation rate).
Numbers, numbers, numbers! However, they are based on a great deal of team effort and commitment over the years, ensuring that people in a handicap situation are offered the best possible support on the road to employment. Let’s see some of the activities carried out in 2016-17.
